    Draft of Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code ready, will be handed over to CM Dhami soon

    Dehradun (IANS). The draft of the Uttarakhand Uniform Civil Code has been prepared by the expert committee. The committee announced during a press conference in Delhi that the draft has been prepared and will be submitted to the state government soon. The committee has prepared the draft on the basis of 2 lakh 31 thousand suggestions.

    Justice (retd) Ranjana Prakash Desai, chairperson of the committee, held a press conference after the Uniform Civil Code was drafted for Uttarakhand. Ranjana Desai said that the Law Commission is already considering working on this issue. The report of the expert committee along with the draft code will be printed soon and submitted to the Uttarakhand government.

    Custom practice in Uttarakhand has also been given a place in it. Most importantly, the committee has also studied the practice being followed in different states of the country. Similarly, there are laws like this in foreign countries, that was also studied.

    Justice Ranjana Desai said that the committee has taken the opinion of politicians, ministers, legislators and general public of Uttarakhand. Only after that the draft of the Uniform Civil Code has been prepared.

    Earlier on June 2, Justice Ranjana Desai and members of the committee that drafted the UCC for Uttarakhand had met Law Commission Chairman Justice (Retd) Rituraj Awasthi and members KT Sankaran, Anand Paliwal and DP Verma. At that time Justice Ranjana Desai had said that the Law Commission is considering working on this issue. The subcommittee itself held 143 meetings in the state. The committee held 63 meetings, 20,000 people have also been met. And, their suggestions have been taken.

    Please tell that on May 27, 2022, the state government had issued a notification for the formation of the committee. On June 30, 2023, the committee has completed the work of making the draft. The state government will get the draft soon. As you are aware, the Government had constituted an Expert Committee to examine the various existing laws regulating personal civil affairs of the residents of Uttarakhand.

    The notification in this regard was issued on 27th May 2022 and the terms of reference were notified on 10th June 2022. The first meeting of the committee was held on 4 July 2022. Since then the committee has met 63 times. A sub-committee was constituted last year to elicit public opinion by inviting written submissions as well as organizing public dialogue programmes. The sub-committee started its public outreach program from the border tribal village Mana and visited 40 different places covering all the districts of the state, culminating in a public discussion on 14 June 2023 in Delhi.

    Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami says that the committee, taking the draft of the UCC, went among the people and worked for more than a year. The committee spoke to more than 2 lakh people, several stakeholders, organizations and intellectuals. The draft will be received by the government soon. After this the government will take further action. The state also has the support of the central government.

    After this, the officers of the Excise Department sitting in Dehradun woke up and in order to avoid trouble, two inspectors posted in the Excise Department in Bajpur — Mohan Singh Koranga and Sonu Singh, a sub-inspector Devendra Kumar, and a head constable Nitin. Kumar and 2 constables Dharam Singh, Jagwati were also lashed for suspension action.

    In fact, in Gularbhoj of Udham Singh Nagar, the police busted a fake country liquor factory running in a house in Roshanpur village. Police arrested six accused involved in making and supplying liquor. Among them three are real brothers and two are married. The leader of this gang is absconding.

    The police had recovered a large quantity of country liquor, chemicals and equipment used in making liquor. The team recovered from the spot empty pavva lids, chits written by Bajpur Gulab, Uttarakhand Government Uttarakhand Excise along with chemicals used in making liquor, equipment, 6 cases of liquor filled in Honda City car UP 16J-8968.

    Along with this, the team also seized eight drums of liquor making chemicals from the godown located at Kundeshwari Kashipur. The accused said that they work for Sukhbinder Singh alias Sonu, resident of Beriya Dolat Kelakheda. Illegal country liquor is made and taken to sell in the mountainous areas of Kumaon.

    In this case, a case has been registered against the accused under Section 60/60(2)/12 Excise Act. Told that absconding Sukhbinder is being searched.

Three cars were buried under the debris, due to which all three vehicles were badly damaged. The police patrol party informed the local people about the debris coming, on which people reached the spot. Thankfully, this incident happened in the morning, due to which people were not present there.     Dehradun (IANS). There is a possibility of heavy rains in seven hilly districts of Uttarakhand on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for heavy rain with thunder at isolated places in Nainital, Champawat, Tehri, Pauri, Dehradun, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts.

    In other districts, there is a possibility of lightning and several rounds of heavy rain. Apart from this, the department has expressed the possibility of blocking of roads and highways at some places due to mild to moderate landslides and rock fall in sensitive areas.

    Actually, the process of heavy rain is going on across the state. In view of the bad weather, SDRF personnel have been put on high alert. While rescue teams have been deployed at 36 sensitive places.

    In view of the active monsoon in the state, a meeting was organized at SDRF Headquarters Jollygrant to deal with the emergency, in which SDRF jawans were instructed to remain on high alert.

    Commander Manikant Mishra said that 36 rescue teams have been deployed in all the sensitive areas of the state. Giving necessary instructions to the jawans posted at SDRF posts, he said that in view of the monsoon, there are strong possibilities of incidents like floods, landslides, cloud bursts etc. have to give .

    The commander also instructed the control room to remain on alert mode and exchange information by keeping in touch with the State Disaster Operation Center located at the Dehradun Secretariat. Also directed to work equipped with state-of-the-art rescue equipment like underwater drone, sonar system, remotely operated lifebuoy, scuba diving set, diving communication set, speed motor boat, raft, cold water rescue suit.

    During this, the jawans were trained in weather forecasting, advance rafting training, kayaking course, OBM maintenance course, installation of signboards to warn of danger by marking vulnerable places for landslides / storm drains, etc.

According to the department, there is a possibility of lightning, hail and gusty winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour at some places in the state.

    According to the weather forecast issued by the State Meteorological Center, Dehradun today, from June 12 to June 15, light to moderate rain and hailstorm accompanied by thunder and lightning at some places in the hilly districts of the state, while rain and thundershowers in the plains with a distance of 40 to 50 km.     Dehradun (IANS) | In the first secretariat guard recruitment exam after the UKSSSC paper leak case, now it seems that the youth have lost faith. This is the reason that 62 percent of the candidates remained absent in the first secretariat guard recruitment examination after the paper leak. Admit cards were issued to 25,806 candidates for this examination, out of which a total of 9,939 i.e. 37.9 percent candidates appeared in all the centres. 15,867 (62.10 per cent) candidates remained absent from the examination. Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) conducted the Secretariat Guard recruitment exam only after 10 months of the paper leak case, in which 62 percent candidates remained absent. The commission conducted the examination amid tight security arrangements.

    On Sunday, the Commission conducted the Secretariat Guard Recruitment Examination in 11:00 am to 1:00 pm shift at 62 centers in Almora, Dehradun, Nainital and Pauri. Admit cards were issued to 25,806 candidates for the examination, out of which a total of 9,939 i.e. 37.9 per cent candidates appeared in all the centres. 15,867 (62.10 per cent) candidates remained absent from the examination. The examination was conducted peacefully at all the centres.

    In Almora, 760 out of 2,315 took the exam at seven centres. In Dehradun, 6,159 out of 15,642 took the exam at 34 centres. In Nainital, 2,359 out of 5,628 appeared in 12 centers and in Pauri Garhwal, 661 out of 2,221 appeared in nine centres. Apart from the paper leak in the past, the tight security system this time is also being considered as the reason behind the absence of such a large number of candidates. However, the chairman of the commission, GS Mertolia, says that the examination has been done with complete transparency, fairness.

    Commission Chairman GS Mertolia said that biometric attendance was taken at the examination centers to maintain fairness. The exam was conducted under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. Jammers were installed in all the centres. The police gave entry to all the candidates only after checking them with metal detectors. Police, administration and education department jointly took responsibility for conducting the examination. According to the commission chairman, now all the upcoming examinations will be done on this pattern.

    GS Martolia, Chairman, Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission, said that the Subordinate Services Selection Commission has stood firmly only after 10 months of paper leak of several examinations including graduate level. The commission had earlier conducted this examination for 33 posts on 26 September 2021 at 107 centres. In this, 25,806 candidates out of 36,533 appeared. The exam was canceled by the commission after its paper was leaked. The last examination of the Commission was held on 31 July 2022 for the recruitment of Police Telecom. Since then, the examinations of the Commission were stuck due to the paper leak case coming to the fore. We have conducted the re-examination only after 10 months of the paper leak episode under tight security. For the examination, the Commission has undertaken wide-ranging internal reforms, which include personnel management as well as improvements in the internal structure and systems. The future examinations will be conducted on this pattern.

    The Subordinate Services Selection Commission has also released its answer key late night after conducting the Guard (Secretariat Security Cadre) recruitment examination. Commission Secretary SS Rawat told that candidates can register their objections on this answer key till May 24. A link will be issued on the website from the morning of May 22 to register objections. For objection, the candidate will have to upload question, answer objection, representation, evidence. No objection will be accepted after May 24. After this, the commission will release the result of this examination.     Uttarakhand. Chief Secretary Dr.S.S. Sandhu presided over the 7th meeting of the Steering Committee of Uttarakhand Campa at the Secretariat on Monday. On this occasion, the Chief Secretary instructed the officers to pay special attention to research work under Uttarakhand CAMPA. He said that there is a need for research on the topics and issues related to the state by the Forest Department so that the state and its people can get benefits.

    The Chief Secretary said that forest fire is a big challenge for the state. He said that research should be done on how forest fire can be controlled. Similarly, research can be done to prevent the damage caused by wild animals to the crops. Research on how bio-fencing can be effective in preventing the damage caused by wild boar, elephant and monkeys should be our top priority. Instructing the officers to set up biofencing cells, the Chief Secretary said that a senior officer should be given the responsibility.

    Instructing the Chief Secretary to send the Annual Plan of Program Operation (APO) to the Central Government by the month of December, said that an annual calendar should be prepared to complete the schemes on time. All the works should be completed within the stipulated time limit. It was informed during the meeting that a budget of Rs 411.88 crore has been fixed for the Annual Plan of Operation (APO). In the meeting, a recommendation was made by the Steering Committee of Uttarakhand Campa.
