    Fraud of 10 lakhs from businessman in the name of ticket booking

    West Bengal. A Delhi businessman has been accused of duping a tour and travel businessman of Kolkata, West Bengal, of Rs 10 lakh for booking air tickets. The name of the victim is Mohammad Tanveer Alam. He is a resident of Mirza Ghalib Street area. After this incident, a complaint was lodged in the New Market police station of the metropolis. According to the police, Mohammad Tanveer Alam told in his complaint that a few months ago he was identified with a travel businessman from New Delhi.

    It is alleged that he had given Rs 10 lakh to that businessman for booking several air tickets. But the accused did not book the air tickets even after taking the money. Despite saying several times, neither the money was returned nor the air ticket was booked. After this, the victim came to know about the fraud and lodged a complaint about the incident at the New Market police station. After starting the investigation of the case, the police has started trying to reach the accused of Delhi.

    In West Bengal’s Kolkata, the police of Bidhan Nagar cybercrime station have arrested an accused from Burdwan in the case of cyber fraud of Rs 94,000 by claiming that a person’s credit card has been closed by pretending to be a bank officer. The name of the accused is Suresh Prasad. It is said that on November 5, 2022, Mitlal Chaurasia, a resident of Baguihati, lodged a complaint with Vidhannagar Cybercrime Police Station that he had been cyber cheated by calling himself from an unknown number, calling himself a bank officer. The victim says that he was tricked by saying that his credit card was closed.

    Kolkata (IANS) | The West Bengal Police on Monday registered four FIRs against some personnel of the Central Armed Forces in connection with a protest by members of the Matua community in Thakurnagar against Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. An FIR has been lodged against the personnel providing security to Union Minister of State and BJP Lok Sabha member from Bangaon Shantanu Thakur who reached the spot on Sunday during the protest.

    In the FIR, the central forces have been accused of obstructing the policemen from performing their duty and rescuing an accused from the clutches of the police.

    After Banerjee reached the temple of Matua spiritual leader late Binapani Devi, or Boro Maa, on Sunday afternoon, several people from the community started showing her black flags and raising slogans, claiming that they would not be allowed to enter the shrine.

    The situation turned critical after Thakur reached the spot and locked the temple gate from inside with the help of central forces.

    Reacting to the police registering the case, BJP state spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said that police administration and Trinamool Congress have become synonymous in the state.

    At the same time, the police released Trinamool Congress leaders who were caught with illegal weapons at the time of nomination.

    Suspected associate of Al Qaeda arrested in Bengal

    Kolkata (IANS) | The Special Task Force of the West Bengal Police has arrested a suspected associate of international terrorist group Al Qaeda. It was announced on Tuesday.

    While the state police did not disclose details, sources said the suspect, identified as Naseemuddin Shaikh, was arrested when he visited his relative’s house in Dadpur in Hooghly district.

    Sources said that Sheikh, originally a resident of Khargram in Murshidabad district, was absconding for a long time. But the STF officials came to know from their sources that he had recently returned to the state and was staying with a relative in Dadpur.

    Sources said that TSF personnel arrested him from there after a sudden raid. Several incriminating documents have been seized from his procession and STF sleuths are currently probing them.

    He will be produced in the lower district court on Wednesday.

    Sources said in November last year, the STF had arrested Maniruddin Khan, another Al Qaeda associate, from Mathurapur in South 24 Parganas district. A pen-drive was recovered from him, from which STF got vital information including Sheikh’s name.
