Forest officer recovered 5 thousand from phone pay, SDO gave instructions for investigation

Balrampur. The forest officer ordered a pick-up vehicle loaded with wood from the border of Chhattisgarh to go to Uttar Pradesh for Rs 5,000 on the phone of his close friend. Actually, the matter is of Dhanwar border check post under Vadrafnagar forest range of Balrampur Forest Division. Naka in-charge Jagdish Pal posted here has been given the responsibility of stopping illegal smuggling of forest resources.

In the matter, SDO Forest Department Anil Paikra said that the information was received through the media. Nilgiri chiran has been told to be transported by the forest personnel posted at the block. The matter of taking money is also coming to the fore, which will be investigated. If the allegation is proved, the matter will be sent to the higher authorities for appropriate action. The thing to be seen here is that the way the in-charge sent the vehicle on payment, many vehicles leave from here during the day, in which most of the vehicles are engaged in illegal transport. If this continues, then such corrupt people will leave the vehicles without taking money.

    Leopard trapped

A leopard was trapped at the Bhatpara tea estate in Alipurduar on Monday afternoon.

Sources said a few days back, some workers had alerted the forest department that the animal had strayed into the garden. This made the forest department lay a trap in the tea estate and wait for the leopard. On Monday, the animal walked into the cage. Later in the day, foresters took away the leopard. It was then released into the Buxa Tiger Reserve at Rajabhatkhawa, foresters said.
