    Man kidnapped, thrashed

    Chandigarh: A man was reportedly kidnapped and thrashed by around 12 persons. Rahul, a resident of Sector 16, Panchkula, reported that Abhyas and another person forcibly took him from Daria village to Indira Colony, Sector 16, where he was hit with sticks by around 12 persons. He was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Panchkula. A case of rioting and kidnapping has been registered against the suspects.

    Youth arrested for raping minor, trying to strangle her

    Uttara Kannada (IANS) | The Karnataka Police has arrested a youth for raping and attempting to strangulate a four-year-old minor girl in Uttara Kannada district. Police said the arrested person has been identified as 26-year-old Shiva, a native of Cuddapah city in Andhra Pradesh. Shiva works as a daily wage labourer.

    According to the police, the accused dragged the girl to an isolated place and raped her in Sirsi town on Thursday evening.

    He then tried to strangulate the girl with a wire, but some passers-by heard her screams and reached the spot and saved her. Police said the accused tried to flee, but was caught and handed over to the police.

    The police have registered a case against the accused under sections 376, 307 of the IPC, sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act.

    Rajkanika: Youth arrested for brutally killing a Kingfisher bird and shooting a video of the act and posting it on social media.

    The incident has been reported from Rajkanika block of Kendrapara district in Odisha, said reliable reports on Thursday.

    The young man brutally killed the Kingfisher bird. The video of the act has become very viral on social media.

    The accused has been identified as Guru Dalei. He is said to be a resident of Rajkanika Talchua Pataparia village and works in shrimp farming in Rajkanika area.

    According to reports, Guru killed the bird very brutally because the shrimps were being eaten by birds. It was filmed and shared on social media.

    After seeing the reels, there was a strong reaction on social media. The Rajkanika Range Officer has arrested Guru Dalei and is questioning him.

    Ghaziabad. The Excise Department on Sunday raided Delhi Darbar and Queen Plaza restaurant located at Border Bhowapur. The youths who were drinking liquor from the spot were arrested. District Excise Officer Rakesh Kumar Singh said that on Sunday, a joint team of Excise Department, Ghaziabad and Kaushambi police raided suspicious places in Bhowapur. During this raid was conducted at Delhi Darbar and Queen Plaza restaurant located in Bhowapur. One of the accused Javed, a resident of Bhowapur, was caught drinking liquor illegally from the basement of Delhi Darbar restaurant. 40 Pavwa Dilkhush country liquor (Masala) with each Pavwa 200 ml was seized from the possession of the apprehended person. It is permissible for sale in all the states of Uttar Pradesh. The arrested accused was sent to jail after registering charges under section of the Excise Act in police station Kaushambi.

    Chandigarh: An 18-year-old youth has been arrested by the Crime Branch for stealing an auto-rickshaw. Suspect Amrish, a resident of Jagatpura village, Mohali, was arrested and the auto-rickshaw stolen from the area of Sector 34 police station was recovered. Amrish was earlier arrested in a case registered at the Sector 49 police station. He was produced in court, which remanded him in judicial custody. TNS

    Battery stolen from Sector 43

    Chandigarh: An unidentified person stole an inverter battery from a house in Sector 43. Complainant Kamaldeep Singh claimed the theft took place on the intervening night of April 21 and 22. A case has been registered at the Sector 36 police station and an investigation initiated. TNS

    FIR against two from Mohali

    Chandigarh: The UT police have booked two Mohali residents for failing to appear in court. The police said Sunny and Sunil Kumar, alias Golu, both Phase-I residents, were declared proclaimed offenders. A case under Section 174-A of IPC has been registered at Sector 39 police station.

    Youth arrested for raping a minor

    A 20-year-old delivery boy was held for allegedly raping a minor girl after abducting her on the pretext of marriage. An FIR was registered at the DLF phase 3 police station. The accused was sent to judicial custody, said the police.

    The complainant, who belongs to West Bengal, said Hari Mohan, her neighbour, abducted her 14-year-old daughter on the pretext of marriage. The accused raped the minor on April 7 and later fled after leaving her outside her house in the Nathupur area.

    Following the complaint, an FIR was registered under Section 6 of the POCSO Act and the accused was arrested.

    “The accused has confessed to the crime. We sent him to judicial custody,” said Inspector Rajender Singh, SHO, DLF phase 3 police station.
